About the event

Bluegrass founder Bill Monroe spent formative years in Northwest Indiana. Local attorney David Dabertin plans to share the story of how Monroe started to blossom as a musician while living in Whiting and East Chicago


Mandolin player and singer Bill Monroe created bluegrass in the 1940s. The music is notable for its “high lonesome” vocals and use of instruments such as the mandolin, fiddle, and banjo.
